TAMAN BERGANTUNG BABYLON




                                                      

  • Hanging Gardens of Babylon (also known as the Hanging Gardens of Semiramis) and the walls of Babylon (now Iraq) were considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Both were built by King Nebuchadnezzar II (604-562 BC), son of Nabopolassar, which had caused the end of the Babylonian and Mesopotamian civilization that had been under the leadership of King Hammurabi (1792-1750 BC). Hanging gardens of Babylon is located about 50 miles south of Baghdad, Iraq on the east bank of the Euphrates River

  • According to some sources, the park was built to please the wife of Nebuchadnezzar, Amyitis who misses home. Amyitis, daughter of the King of the kingdom of the Medes, was married to Nebuchadnezzar to foster cooperation between the two countries
