LONDON - A group of scientists believe they managed to capture the first image a planet around the star like the Sun, a newspaper said yesterday.

The planet is very far and has a mass eight times heavier than planet Jupiter and is very far from the star that is 330 times Earth's distance to the sun.

Previously, only a planet outside the solar system, recorded with a small star and is known as the little gray.

The images, known as the young star recorded by researchers at the University of Toronto astronomers using the Gemini North telescope on Mauna Kea, Hawaii.



National Geographic News reports said they were not sure whether the star is a planet or it is a planet-like object.

In a paper submitted to the Astrophysical Journal Letters, scientists said, David Lafreniere, Ray Jayawardhana and Marten H. Van Kerkwijk said:

"If they are united by gravity, it means that it may be low and the existence of mass images with a large difference can give a substantial challenge to the theoretical existence of the planet," said the scientists. -
